What Would You Do?

A global student writing challenge about power, resistance, and justice, seen through a modern retelling of the David and Goliath encounter.

The Challenge Begins

In every era, people are faced with the same enduring question: What would you do when someone stronger takes what is yours and demands your silence? This writing contest is a global call to respond to that question with moral clarity, cultural depth, and imaginative force.

We are inviting students from around the world to share their most compelling reflections, essays, poems, short stories, or other creative writings that explore themes of power, silence, courage, and justice. Whether your truth comes from ancient teachings, personal experiences, or the conscience of your community, we want to hear it.

This is not just about storytelling. It is about awakening the moral imagination of a generation. In fact, we are just preparing to encounter our Goliath consisted from a strong and powerful EU country and their international corporation. So, the ideas that we receive through your stories may help us choose the best stones for our sling. Your ideas will also inspire other people around the world about what to do in front of your Goliath.

The Purpose of This Competition

This contest is more than an academic exercise. It is an invitation to resist when silence and immorality threaten to prevail. It serves the following goals:

To Turn on the Light where Darkness and Silence were ruling.
Through writing, we challenge injustice and awaken public conscience. Each story becomes a voice against silence, each voice a warning to every Goliath that moral reckoning always comes. The project was born out of our own unresolved injustice involving misappropriated funds now held in the state budget of an EU country—but every new story may help another David face his own Goliath.

  • Every person, deep within themselves, feels and knows what is right and moral, and carries an inner urge to act in accordance with that sense.
  • The richness of cultural diversity in today’s global world offers an extraordinary opportunity to tell stories about how individuals seek to fulfill their need for justice. Various public and social norms, human rights charters, laws, and similar frameworks can help shape the most just and courageous responses to the efforts of modern-day Goliaths.
  •
  • To Legitimate the Word of Truth as the most powerful Weapon.
Writing is not just an art form – it is a form of resistance. Participants - writers will equip themselves, other writers and readers of their works with insights and convictions that will strengthen the global conversation on integrity, responsibility, and civic courage.
  •
  • To Challenge the Powerful.
  • Powerful entities—be they states or corporations—are often admired for innovation and success. But when they conceal old unethical doings, their prestige becomes a double-edged sword. It gives writers a unique opportunity to create short stories and narratives that force these actors to face their own hidden contradictions—before an informed public that no longer accepts silence.

Who Can Participate?

Undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students from any country.

  • Submissions may take the form of:
    • Essays
    • Reflections
    • Poems
    • Short stories
    • Dialogues
    • Other creative writing formats (max. 1000 words)
  •
    • Prizes: The best entries will receive awards ranging from a guaranteed $5,000 up to $10,000, or more, depending on participation, public contributions, and voting results.

Selection Process

The contest proceeds in three stages:

1. AI Moderation – Submissions that are off-topic, inappropriate, against the rules, or clearly low-effort will be filtered out.

2. Peer Review – Qualified participants will evaluate each other’s works based on clarity, originality, and impact.

3. Public Voting – The public will vote for the most resonant and powerful pieces.

The top 50 selected writings will be published in a book, each paired with one of 50 pre-commissioned paintings (collected from academic painters from all over the world) depicting modern interpretations of the David vs. Goliath encounter. Prior to writing, each author selects one image that inspires them, and offers a short explanation of their choice. These pairs of image and text will also form part of the Public Tribunal — the ethical and cultural crescendo of the NoMoreSilence project.

Why This Matters

This contest is part of a larger initiative to confront one of the most disturbing cases of modern silence and evasion: a powerful state keeping funds unlawfully acquired in another country despite official complaints, judicial evidence, and ethical appeals.

This is not a call for political rebellion. It is a call for intellectual courage in a very strong, big and unique case which will influence millions around the world.

For the time being, they (a powerful state and their corporation) have chosen silence as their defense, but this is how we say that the word is mightier than the silence.

Your words may become part of something bigger—not only as cultural testimony, but as intellectual evidence that justice still matters. We think that voices saying that justice and morality matter are missing in today’s world.

Call to Action

This is your chance to take part in something more than a contest.

Write with imagination. Write with courage. Write as if truth still matters. Write as if your life depends on it because if silence grows unchallenged, it may become dangerous.

And answer the question:

What would you do?

Let your words break the silence. Let them echo where others have turned away. Let them count. Let the future remember your voice.
